Okwemba: Ambani has our full backing as Leopards Chairman

Amid a string of below par results, Ambani’s election into the AFC Leopards team is being considered a breath of fresh air by players and fans alike.

Former Leopards star Charles Okwemba has stated that the new chair has the full backing of the supporters and that he believes this to be positive change.

“I believe it is a fresh start for Leopards. Ambani has our full support and I believe he will do well. As fans, his tenure is a very welcome idea and we wish him all the very best,” stated a hopeful Okwemba.

Leopards managed to accrue 51 points in the last campaign to finish sixth but are hopeful of better a better show next season.

Having beaten Mutoka, Okwemba says although Ambani won the election, AFC Leopards is bigger than any one person and good ideas come from evewhere, even from the losing candidate.

“We cannot say that all ideas from the opposition were misplaced. The ultimate goal is the elevating of our club that we love, and we should not discredit an idea because of its source,” Okwemba said.

Ambani had stated earlier that one of the things he is looking to do first is check on player contracts and determine who will stay and who will have to move on from the club.

“We are fully confident in the technical team to make these decisions. Fans should understand that there are many aspects to consider apart from on-pitch performances hence should approach any changes with an open mind”
