Nzoia Sugar race to find Coach Babu's replacement
Nzoia Sugar Chairman Evans Kadenge says they will shortlist
candidates to replace former head coach Salim Babu by close of business Tuesday.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital, Babu said they have received over 20 applications but they want to
ensure that they pick on a candidate who meets CAF requirements of Class ‘B’.
Immediate former Nzoia head coach Salim Babu left the team
to take on a lesser role at Kenya Police as an assistant coach to enable him
undertake his CAF ‘B’ coaching course.
Babu led Nzoia Sugar to a fourth place finish in the recently concluded FKF-PL season and he resigned two weeks ago.
“We have received over 20 applications but we want to pick
on someone who meets the CAF requirement of Class B so we want to shortlist
these candidates by the close of business tomorrow,” Babu told Citizen Digital.
The soft spoken administrator has also refuted claims of
player exodus from the Sudi-based team noting that “only two players have left”.
“We have only released Joseph Mwangi to Tusker and Kevin Juma
wants to join Gor Mahia, but you know what is happening at Gor Mahia, these players
have contracts with us and someone must pay before we release any player, these
boys are still with us and we are hoping they will stay here.”
