Gor Mahia team Manager Victor Nyaoro attributes their recent successes to the infusion of new signings, noting the enhanced vigour they've brought to the squad.

Nyaoro's remarks follow Gor Mahia's triumphant outing in Bungoma last weekend, where they secured a 3-1 victory over Nzoia in a league match, further solidifying their position at the top of the standings. According to Nyaoro, Gor Mahia made history in Bungoma by clinching their first away victory against Nzoia in four decades.

"This was a historic moment for us. It's been 40 years since we last defeated Nzoia on their home turf in Bungoma, back in 1984 with a 2-1 win. Our combination of new signings and seasoned players delivered a stellar performance," Nyaoro noted.

The manager credited their recent victory to the inclusion of new signings in the starting lineup, describing it as a well-calculated and bold move by the technical team.

Among the new talents absorbed mid-season by Gor Mahia are midfielder Musa Masika from KCB, winger Musa Sheriff, Enock Wanyama, former Shanderema Boys striker Mark Shaban, and left-back Levin Odhiambo from Tusker.

"Our new players have demonstrated their worth and consistency within the club, earning their places in the starting lineup despite stiff competition," Nyaoro affirmed.

As the race for the season's title intensifies, Nyaoro asserts Gor Mahia's status as the team to beat, emphasizing their aspirations for continental success.

Reflecting on their absence from the CAF Champions League last season due to administrative issues, Nyaoro expressed optimism for a successful campaign this time around, aiming to secure their 22nd title.

Looking ahead, the club boss highlighted the potential for further squad reinforcement, particularly if they qualify for the CAF Champions League, pending approval from the club's management.

"It's not just about recruitment; financial considerations are crucial. Any new player acquisition must be approved by the club's management to avoid past issues that led to FIFA sanctions," Nyaoro clarified.

Gor Mahia's upcoming fixture against AFC Leopards in the "Mashemeji derby" on Sunday, April 21, is currently awaiting confirmation from Sports Kenya for venue approval. Initially slated for Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, the venue change reflects the club's adaptability amidst ongoing refurbishments at Kasarani Stadium, earmarked to host AFCON 2027 alongside other venues in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
