AFC Leopards former Chief Executive Officer, Ronald Namai, has
promised to deliver four league titles in four years if elected as the club’s
new chairman in the rescheduled June 29 elections.
Namai, former Harambee Stars and Leopards striker Boniface Ambani,
and ex-Leopards marketing director Enos Mutoka are in the running to
replace outgoing Chairman Dan Shikanda at the helm as the club desperately eyes
a return to its former glory days.
“What you are going to ask me will only be three points in every
match that we shall play. But other matters leave it for me.
“I will be updating you after every three months on the progress
of the team, and I want to promise you that in my first four years, I will
ensure we win four league titles,” Namai promised.
Ingwe are yet to win a league title since 1998 and have not put
their hands on any trophy under the current regime, which has seen Shikanda
lead since 2019, when he was elected.
Under Shikanda, Leopards failed to win the league title despite
making seven changes on the coaching top seat.
Namai, who was appointed Leopards' CEO in 2016, says he has a
clear, actionable plan to take the 12-time league champions back to the top of
Kenyan football.
“The team’s progress depends on the leadership. We will change the
way the team is governed to foster good governance and success,” added Namai.
He prides himself on having helped the team win the FKF Cup in
2017 in the one year he was in charge as the CEO, and he regrets that Leopards
have not won any title.
“I was in charge as the CEO for only one year. In that year I
managed to help the team win the FKF Cup. And since then, we have not won any
single trophy,” Namai stated.
