Kenya is set to make history as host of the African Continental Tour 2026 Darts World Cup qualifiers, with the event taking place at Kasarani Sportsview in Nairobi.

The tournament marks a major milestone for darts in the country and the region, providing a platform for players to compete for spots in the global qualifiers and showcase the sport's growing popularity across Africa.

David Munyua, a key figure in Kenyan darts, expressed excitement about the event and its potential impact.

"We are very happy for this event, things are getting bigger and better for the darts game, and we are hoping it doesn't end here," Munyua said.

He highlighted the inspirational value for young players and the wider opportunities it creates.

"Kenya hosting this event is going to inspire our young players who are interested in darts, and also it's going to create opportunities for East African players."

Munyua also praised the support from government stakeholders.

"I am very grateful to our government, they are very interested in what we are doing, especially the ministry of sports and tourism, we are working together, and I hope this thing is going to be great," he added.

"There is no other sport that is easier to learn and support than darts. Very soon, we are going to put our country in a global position and also as an example for Africa."

The qualifiers at Kasarani Sportsview represent a significant step in elevating darts in Kenya, with the sport gaining traction thanks to its accessibility, low entry barriers, and growing grassroots participation.

The event is expected to draw players from across East Africa and beyond, offering a competitive stage and a chance to qualify for the Darts World Cup.

With strong backing from the Ministry of Sports and Tourism, the tournament highlights Kenya's ambition to become a hub for emerging sports and inspire the next generation of talent.
