Mombasa Stars, Mombasa Elite braced for NSL derby

Mombasa Stars plan for Mombasa Elite Downfall in National Super League Mombasa Derby this Saturday at the Mbaraki Stadium.

Mombasa Stars will be ready to shake off a bad outing last weekend when they were held to a 2 - 2 draw by bottom placed Mully Children Family at their home soil.

According to Stars head coach Hussein Mohammed "Madaga", their preparations for the match are on top gear, stating a cool and energized camp a day to the eagerly awaited match.

“Every player is ready for the match but a derby will always be a derby regardless of the form our team is in, we will pick the positives from our last game and try to rectify where we went wrong to get the best results".

Mombasa Stars match against MCF last weekend saw main characters Lucky Kaingu, Said Dhadho and Brian Moraya left out of the days squad, Coach Madaga stating it was a tactical change.

“Sometimes it's a tactical change, sometimes it's because of injuries but by tomorrow we will be sure of whom to feature in the derby, but we have around 6 injuries in the team but we will play to win".

Mombasa Stars and Mombasa Elite all have 9 points so far in NSL with Stars having a stronger goal difference and sitting in 10th in the log while Mombasa Elite is 12th in the pecking order.

Mombasa Elite will try to maintain their fine home record which they lost once by a solitary goal when Darajani Gogo last visited them.

head coach Patrick Nyale worried about increase of injuries among his first team players saying they had tough away matches.

“We have 7 injuries and more knocks to my players, we haven't trained well since our last outing so it has always been a recovery season but we will definitely give our best".
