Makolanders bullish of target as ‘free points’ become the norm in league

Makolanders Ladies head coach Florence Adhiambo is upbeat her charges will achieve their target of finishing in the top three of the women Premier League at the end of the season despite a shaky start.

According to Adhiambo, Makolanders downward spiral has majorly been contributed to by lack of experience from her young charges but is tipping her players to gain more experience as the league wears on.

“We were targeting top three but we have many young players who are not accustomed to this kind of competition and they are still trying to adjust to this kind of environment,” she explained.

“I know that by the time the second leg kicks off, they would have caught up because they are gaining more experience with each game they play,” she added.

Over the weekend, Makolanders got easy points after Vihiga Leeds failed to honour their match against them which had been slated for the Camp Toyoyo grounds on Saturday.

In other fixtures played on Saturday, Gaspo Youth delivered a setback to Thika Queens with an impressive 4-3 victory at Ruiru grounds that saw the former jump to position two with 21 points as Oserian Ladies held Kisumu All Starlets to a 1-1 draw at the Oserian grounds.

Thika Queens later  bagged three easy points on Sunday after Vihiga Leeds failed to turn up for the match as Kibera Girls Soccer Academy picked up their fifth win this season when they edged out Kayole Starlets 1-0.
