Leopards legend Juma welcomes 'International break', says it will help the club reorganise
AFC Leopards assistant coach Tom Juma says that the international break is of great benefit to the team as it will give the players a chance to gel before the resumption of the league.
Prior to the break, Leopards had posted four losses on the trot in the hands of Gor Mahia, Bandari, Ulinzi Stars and Sofapaka and according to Juma, this is the best time for the players to sharpen their claws.
“It’s true it (the
break) has helped us assess our new players and they are doing very well. We
are very optimistic that by the time we resume the league the team will be in
good shape to compete,” Juma said.
With the FKF disbanded
by the government and a caretaker committee put in place, Ingwe will have more
time to put their house in order after the committee announced suspension of the
league for two weeks to give them time to draw a way forward.
The 12-time league
champions recently signed 10 players to bolster the squad after losing 17 to
rival clubs due to the team’s financial constraints.
It is for that reason
that the Leopards legend is predicting a tough run despite signing new players.
“It was not a bad
addition because at least we are now having a balance in a different position.
As you are aware we lost many players and we were short of players in various
positions but now we can say we are better.
It doesn’t mean that
now things will be rosy in the league but what we must do is to be ready to
fight and compete with other teams.
Ingwe sit 15th on the log with four points, 10
behind leaders Gor Mahia.
