KSSSA: Coach Malungu tips Musingu to defend national hockey title

Musingu High School hockey head coach Michael Malungu says they are prepared to extend their dominance in the game when the competition kicks off this year.

Malungu says they are putting in the hard work required as they prepare to face their opponents and be able to defend the national title.

“Preparations are in top gear. We are looking forward to the competition, and we know everyone is training to beat up, but with good preparations, we will be up to the task,” said Malungu

As the reigning champions, Malungu understands they have a target on their back, warning his charges against sleeping on their laurels.

“We have to take one game at a time, treating every game as a final because we cannot look down upon any team only because we are the defending champions. That is our aim,” added Malungu

The veteran tactician said that despite losing some key players who have completed their high school education, he is impressed with their replacements.

“We lost some key players who completed their high school education, and we have integrated some into the current team.

“They have adjusted very well with the rest of the team,” stated the head coach
