The Kenyan Premier League’s Safety and Security Committee on Monday slapped bans on five of Kenya’s stadia from hosting its matches until the recommended face-lifts are made.

KPL made the announcement in a statement published on its official portal.

The affected facilities include the Ruaraka Sports Ground, home to 11-time champions Tusker,  Mumias Sports Complex and Thika Sub County Stadium.

Others are Camp Toyoyo grounds in Nairobi’s Jericho Estate and Chemelil Sports Complex.

The ban in essence means that only the Moi International Sport Centre, Kasarani,  Moi Stadium in Kisumu, Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega and  Kinoru Stadium in Meru fits the bill to host the top division matches.

The move will come as a blow moreso to teams domiciled in western Kenya who have primarily used the Mumias Sports Complex and Chemelil Complex as their home grounds.
