KPA book last 16 slot as KCB routine win continues  in Tunisia

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Men’s Volleyball Team Tuesday joined KCB and Kenya Pipeline in the Round of 16 bracket of the ongoing African Volleyball Clubs Championships in Tunisia.

KPA punched the last 16 ticket in the men’s category following a 3-1 sets (25-19, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20) win over Senegal’s ASEG, finishing runners up on seven points behind JOA of Algeria who collected eight points in Pool ‘A’.

The Dockers, who are eyeing to better their last year’s fifth-place finish, bounced back from Sunday’s 3-2 sets  defeat by JOA  to edge the Senegalese side for their second win in the championship, following 3-1 triumph over Cameroon Sports Club of Cameroon in their opening fixture.

Meanwhile, KCB’s stellar form continued after the women’s defending champions registered their third successive straight set win in the final Pool ‘B’ fixture against Saltigue of Senegal.

KCB, who have been at their impeccable best and who qualified to the Round of 16 stage with a match to spare, edged the Senegalese outfit in sets of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-15 in the lopsided tie.

Kenya Pipeline wind up their preliminary matches against DEC of Ivory Coast on Wednesday. The Oilers booked their last 16 slot on Monday after picking their second successive win 3-1 against Mouloudia Club d’Alger from Algeria

The draws for the Round of 16 stage will be held Wednesday then action resumes on Thursday as the championship intensifies.
