Zetech Sparks
head coach Maurice Obilo has applauded his team after their towering performance
over the weekend in the Kenya National Women’s Basketball League.
The students
defeated newbies in the league Safe Spaces 57-40 at the Nyayo
Gymnasium on Sunday to underline their intention to gun for a playoff spot.
"We did our
best, doing what we could do, and we have to build from there, heading to our
National KUSA games before resuming the league,” Obilo said.
Zetech Sparks are
unbeaten in their first eight games with 16 points after winning all while
Safe Spaces have
won only two matches, losing eight in their first ten matches, and have 12
points so far.
Elsewhere,
University of Nairobi’s Terror head coach Eugene Kalman has pointed out their game
plan as a key ingredient in their weekend victory against varsity side ANU
Wolfpacks in the men’s premier league match.
“We had a game
plan; the boys came with much energy, much enthusiasm, and we hope we can build
on this particular win as we move forward,” Kalman said.
At the same time, Kalman has recognized the need to improve
his roster ahead of their last game ahead of the second leg of the season.
“We had some
lapses on defense, something we shall work on as we wait to play our last game
against Strathmore Blades.
“Strathmore is
very good in terms of transitions and rebounding, so we are able to improve our
defense in half-court sets and also in the transition and see what goes right,”
Kalman added.
