Equity Dumas head coach Zadock Adika is pleased after his team exacted revenge on Umoja with an 85-72 win in the Kenya National Men’s Basketball Premier League (KNBL).

The victory came against a side that lured away eight Dumas players and former head coach Isaac Munyoki at the start of the season.

“It was a very important game for us, having lost eight of our key players to the team that also beat us in the first leg. We really had to put our best foot forward. Our young boys have also been able to rise to the occasion as they managed to get a convincing victory,” Adika said.

The soft-spoken tactician is also impressed with his boys after downing Africa Nazarene University’s Wolfpacks 75-61 away on Sunday, marking their second win in as many games.

“It was a very interesting game because we were able to withstand their attacks and shoot well. It was a well deserved win as we had prepared quite intensely because we knew we were coming for the victory,” averred Oluoch.

Adika is optimistic his boys will build up on the back-to-back victories, with his sights firmly set on a semi-final playoff berth.

“We hope the double victory will make us stronger as we approach the playoffs. We want to finish in a good position to be able to play in the semis of the payoffs,” he noted.

“Despite us having a new team we brought in new young players who are blending in well. Our injured players including the captain are rallying and supporting the team to play their best as we wait for them to recover,” he added.

The two injured players are Captain Nelson Kisia and Jordan Pipkin.

Currently, Equity Dumas are fourth on the league standings with 22 points after 15 matches, winning seven and losing eight.
