KCB RFC head coach Curtis Olago is optimistic his project will finally pay off despite failing to end Kabras’ dominance in the Kenya Cup after last weekend’s upset at Kakamega Showground.

KCB lost 29-05 to Kabras in the final as the latter went on to lift the title for the third year in a row, but despite the loss Olago is not losing hope yet.

“It was a good game of rugby. Every player gave their best performance on the pitch but we made a few mistakes, and Kabras being that good they capitalised on their opportunities and won the game because rugby is a game of chances,” said Olago.

The side has shifted focus to the Enterprise Cup where they are scheduled to face Catholic Monks in round of 16 on April 20 at KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka.

The Enterprise Cup quarterfinals are scheduled for April 27 and 28, with the semi-finals and finals set for May 4 and 25, respectively.

“We are heading in the right direction this season. We are in transition and I am pleased with what I am seeing so far. The fruits will be seen very soon and our next focus is the Enterprise Cup which we hope to give our best and win.”

KCB last won the Enterprise Cup in 2017 after defeating Kabras RFC 27 – 23.
