KCB RFC, Impala unveil squads for Floodies finale

All roads lead to the Impala rugby grounds over the weekend for the 36th edition of the Impala Floodies tournament.

The two finalists Impala and KCB in a repeat of last year’s final have unleashed star-studded line-ups ahead of the finale.

The finale will bring down the curtains of a three week rugby bonanza that has seen both Kenya Cup and Championship sides tackle each other for the ultimate prize.

Hosts Impala Saracens have not left anything to chance by recalling former Kenyan international star Robert “Majei” Aringo at inside center.

The star had been sidelined with a life threatening backbone injury that saw him miss out of action for a year.

Aringo has been out through injury but been declared fit and he will co-work with youngster George Okowa in midfield.

On the other hand Kenya Cup undisputed KCB have brought in Michael Wanjala to replace Marlin Mukolwe at scrumhalf as they look sharpens on their mistakes.

Head coach of KCB Curtis Lilako has also brought in the Super Ahmed Shaban who has yet to play a game in the floodlights and will start from the bench.

The lions will also be looking upon debutant Brian Nyikuli who they signed from Strathmore Leos and the Kenya International will be looking to impress at the expense of Martin Owilla who is off on official duties.

Brian Moseti will be looking to replicate his performance during last week Semi final game against Homeboyz to steer his team to the finals.

Moseti was arguably the best player of the match after recording positive points for his sides and this week will take up the kicking duties at midfield position donning the number 12 position.

By the look of things this finale promises to elicit fireworks as the two teams lock horns at 7:00pm (EAT).

The Impala floodlights is used as a pre season preparation for the Kenya Cup season which kick starts a week later with a number of games lined up.
