KCB hold Bandari in tough tie in Mombasa

Bandari had the first chance in the second minute of the game Shassiri Nahimana connected Barisa Mohammed pass but failed to hit the target.

Bandari FC was this afternoon held to a barren draw by visitors KCB in their home ground Mombasa Sports Club.

The Home team failed to capitalize on their home support and secure maximum points in two consecutive matches.

Bandari had the first chance in the second minute of the game Shassiri Nahimana connected Barisa Mohammed pass but failed to hit the target.

Fifteen minutes later, Shassiri collected a loose ball in the six yard box but his shot lost direction and went over the crossbar.

The home team won five corner kicks in the first 29 minutes but failed to convert any of them.

KCB got their first shot on target at the half an hour mark through a Derrick Otanga header which was calmly saved by Bandari goalkeeper Bryne Omondi.

KCB came back from halftime strong, almost finding the back of the net through Philomen Nyakwaka who connected Herit Atariza corner kick but his flick went over the top bar.

Derrick Otieno went past Bandari defence line and unleashed a strong shot that went past the side bar.

The home side were forced to introduce striker Umar Kasumba, David Sakwa and youngstar William Gitama with no vain, both teams settling to barren draw at Mombasa Sports club.

KCB head coach Benard Mwalala praised his players for denying Bandari fc any scoring chance saying they had better second half to get maximum points.

"We are lucky to have secured a point here in Mombasa, a hunting joint for Bandari, this is a plus to us since we have added a point to what we had".

On his side Bandari tactician John Baraza once again raised concerns on his strikers for failing to convert chances created by his team.

"Today l can't blame my players, they played as we had planned but we had all chances to get goals but once again we failed to capitalize. We must start to capitalize on our home advantage."
