Kabras eye more dominance after Kenya Cup three-peat success

Kabras RFC captain George Nyambua has predicted the club’s rugby dominance will continue unshaken due to strong structures of talent management that exist.

According to Nyambua, other clubs should borrow a leaf from Kabras saying their never drying production line of top players has helped the club maintain its top dog status.

Nyambura captained Kabras to their third successive Kenya Cup title, hitting familiar foes KCB 29-5 in the final played at Kakamega Showground last weekend.

“We have a very solid foundation and the future is bright. We have young players who are learning the game very first and they will be taking over from the veterans who will be hanging their boots in the near future. So the future is already sorted and with the structures that have been set, I don’t see anyone threatening our dominion,” he said.

He added that a myriad of factors including technical competence, physical prowess, and the development environment combine to determine youth player progression.

Kabras won the title in style following an unbeaten run, and Nyambua has also attributed their success to hard work and team work.

“Very many stakeholders played their part from the players, technical bench, the sponsors and even most important the fans. We took every game as a final and we are glad we dominated over opponents. Hope this will continue in the coming seasons.”

Kabras have already shifted focus to the Enterprise Cup and their fixture against Mwamba RFC on April 20 to launch their target to complete a season double.
