'If we are not there then football in the country will never rise', Oliech tells CS Amina over Committee

Former Harambee Stars ace Dennis Oliech has called upon the Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed to consider appointing ex-Stars players to the caretaker committee she recently appointed to manage football in the country.

According to the former Auxerre FC forward, Ambassador Amina should include him together with former Kenyan captain Musa Otieno, and MacDonald Mariga in the FKF Caretaker Committee which is led by retired justice Aaron Ringera.

“According to me I think we should be on board. Mariga (MacDonald), (Musa) Otieno and myself need to be in the committee (FKF Caretaker Committee),” said Oliech.

Oliech’s call comes barely two weeks after the CS disbanded FKF under allegations of misappropriation of funds channeled to them by the government.

Oliech has at the same time warned Amina not to expect the committee to succeed in the assignment if the three former Harambee Stars players won’t be named in the committee.

“If we are not there then football in the country will never be raised to the levels like that of Nigeria or Cameroon.

So just to reiterate, Amina please give us the job and that is the only thing I am wishing for,” Oliech pleaded.

Among the few football veterans in the 15-member caretaker committee include former AFC Leopards star JJ Masiga and Gor Mahia great Bobby Ogola.

The committee suspended FKF Premier League for two weeks though action is expected to resume this weekend.

Other members include General (Rtd) Moses Oyugi, Fatma Adan, Philip Musyimi Mue, Anthony L. Isayi, Elisha Chepchieng Kiplagat, Hassan Mahmoud Haji, Fredrick Tureisa Lekesike and Mwangi Muthee, Neddy Atieno, Richard Omwela, Titus Kasuve, and Ali Amour.

The secretariat is led by broadcast journalist Linda Oguttu, assisted by Michael Mucheni (Secretary), Lorine Nerea Shitubi (Joint Secretary), Caesar Handa, Habo Mwachiro, Edward Rombo, Hiba Hussein, Gabriel Warigi, Dr Walter Ongeti, Rashid Khamisi Ali Shedu, Hon. Rachael Kamweru and Robin Toskin.
