Kakamega Homeboyz Team Manager, Boniface Imbenzi, has praised newly crowned FKF Premier League champions Kenya Police FC for their remarkable achievement—clinching the league title for the first time in the club's history.
Police secured
the title on Sunday after edging Shabana FC 1-0, taking their tally to 64
points—six ahead of second-placed Gor Mahia—with just one fixture remaining in
the season.
"I want to congratulate Police FC for winning the Kenya Premier League title. They have worked very hard and remained highly competitive throughout the season. Their success is a wake-up call to the rest of us—it proves that with effort, consistency, and proper planning, any team can finish top," said Imbenzi.
He commended the
disciplined performance and commitment shown by Police, describing their title
run as "a brilliant journey" and a source of pride for Kenyan
football.
Imbenzi further
stated that Kakamega Homeboyz intend to borrow a leaf from Police’s playbook as
they mount their own title challenge next season.
"Police
have set the benchmark and demonstrated that winning the league is possible,
even for teams without a long history of dominance. They’re relatively new, yet
they’ve made history—this motivates us. We’re an older club, and I believe
we’re also ready to compete for the title," he added.
"Our
ultimate goal is to bring the FKF-PL trophy to Kakamega. We are committed, and
next season, we’ll give it our all."
Homeboyz
currently sit third on the log with 57 points, just one behind Gor Mahia. They
will be aiming to finish second when they take on Tusker FC in their final
match of the season on Sunday.
