Homeboyz down Nakuru as KCB, Kabras power on

Menengai Cream Homeboyz RFC got back to winning ways with a 28-16 win over Top Fry Nakuru RFC at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday.

The visitors scored three tries, two penalties and one conversion to bag five points and haul their Kenya Cup campaign back on track.

Nakuru wasted clear chances after kick off and will have themselves to blame after a mispass was intercepted by Shujaa speedster Leonard Mugaisi at the half way line to score a superb winning try.

Martin Muita’s four tries and two conversions were not enough to save the Mitch Ocholla-coached charges from defeat.

Elsewhere at the Railways Club defending champions KCB edged out Mwamba RFC 27-15 to maintain their 100 percent start to the season.

Six tries and a conversion were enough for Curtis Olago’s men to cement their chances at the top having amassed 30 points from six matches.

Francis Mwita, Peter Kilonzo, Martin Owila, Elly Mukaizi and Nelson Nyandat crossed over for the whitewash for the Bankers while Elphas Otieno added the sole conversion.

Up next for KCB is the Kenya Harlequins at the Lions’ Den in Ruaraka while Mwamba visit big boys Homeboyz at the Jamhuri Grounds.

In the Ngong Road derby Impala Saracens managed to edge out their noisy neighbours Harlequins 10-8 in a tightly contested game.

Powerhouse Malcolm Onsando and Paul Mutsami were binned early in the second half after they were involved in a scuffle as the match day referee failed to control the derby as fans also protested in dismay of his officiating.

Kenyan international Ian Minjire showcased his worth after collecting the ball deep in their 22 yard to score a classic solo try.

Kabras also ensured their winning streak rolled on as they defeated Nondescripts 40-20. The second-placed side kicked off the game with two quick penalties from Kevin Keegan to take the advantage.

Fidel Sinei added a penalty for the home side before half time but Kenya International Felix Ayange side stepped through four Nondies defender’s to score a try before the hooter which Keegan easily converted.

Steve Otieno was sin binned for a dangerous tackle which Kabras took advantage off to score through Hosea Ngesa, Nondies continued to fight back and Nondies dangerman Frank Obudo scored and converted the try but it was not enough to cut the deficit.

Ayange scored his brace after a clean worked out set piece from the Kabras side where Ayange with his magic side step confused the Nondies defence to cement Kabras chances of lifting their second Kenya Cup crown.

Kabras welcome the in form Impala Saracens in their next game while Nondies will battle it out against relegation bound Kisii RFC.

At the Mombasa sports club Strathmore Leos ran over Mombasa RFC 28-8 to revive their hopes of maintaining in the top flight come next season.

The loss means the newly promoted Mombasa have not won any game since they got a promotion to the Kenya Cup.

Mombasa next play host to Top fry Nakuru in Mombasa while Strathmore welcome Campus boys Blak Blad.
Blak blad on the othe hand recorded their third win of the season after seeing off Kisii RFC 24-8 in the sixth round of the Kenya Cup at the Kenyatta University grounds.

The defeat leaves Kisii at position 11, relegation zone, after bagging only one point in the six matches they played since they got promoted.
