Starlets join hosts Tanzania, South Sudan, Burundi, and Uganda in the five-nation regional tournament, organised by CECAFA in collaboration with the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF).

The competition is aimed at preparing CECAFA’s representative for the upcoming 2025 Africa Women Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to kick off in Morocco next month.

Meanwhile, the Mildred Cheche-coached side are currently in Morocco and are scheduled to face the Atlas Lionesses Wednesday evening in an international friendly match in Tangier.

“The participation of the Harambee Starlets in both the CECAFA tournament and high-level friendlies reflects FKF’s continued commitment to offering the national women’s team quality competitive exposure,” said FKF.

Meanwhile, Kenya Police FC winger Mohammed Bajaber has failed to travel with Harambee Stars squad for the Chad friendly matches in Morocco after picking an injury in training on Tuesday.

“Team doctor Wycliffe Makanga confirmed the injury, ruling Bajaber out of the trip to Morocco.

“No replacement has been named, with 23 players set to travel tonight for the matches scheduled for 7th and 10th June in Marrakech,” said FKF.

The 22-year-old last involvement was against Mara Sugar in the FKF Cup quarter finals where he missed his penalty in the shoot outs.

The former Nairobi City Star player got his first call up in March when head coach Bennie Mcarthy named him in his squad for the CAF World Cup qualifiers.

He did repay the trust after his introduction in the game in the second half with a beautiful curling shot to pick the top corner to draw Kenya level on 2 -2 a game which ended in a 3 – 3 draw.

Bajaber's first start came against Gabon in a 2-1 loss to Gabon at Nyayo Stadium.

Mohammed Bajaber withdrawal comes days after veteran midfielder Victor Wanyama, who had come out of his national team retirement, opted out of the team citing personal commitments.

Harambee Stars are set to play two friendly matches against Chad on June 7 and June 10 in Morocco as part of CHAN preparations.
