The General Service Unit (GSU) head coach Gideon Tarrus has vowed to reclaim their volleyball title after they were dethroned by Kenya Prisons during last week's play-offs.

The paramilitary side finished third in the playoffs that were played in round robin format Prisons going all the way to end their six-year league dominance.

“I don’t regret losing the title, that’s normal and I took it positively. It shows the quality of the competition. You can’t win year in year out and losing is normal and part of the game.”

“We have commenced our training sessions and we will come back to reclaim our title,” noted Tarrus.

Having already lost their stars Aggrey Kibungei and Nelson Bitok prior to the play-offs, GSU could yet again see five more key members of the squad depart during the season for recruitment, something Tarrus is sweating over.

However, he is confident he will pull through even if his starmen depart.

The Ruaraka based side will now focus on rebuilding ahead of the new season after Tarrus earlier admitted that Kenya Pipeline Authority and Kenya Prisons were superior to them while reflecting on the playoffs.

“We may lose some players during the recruitment but we will work with those who will remain and give it their all in the league. We will also add quality ahead of the new season,” said Tarrus.

The 15 times league champions have already secured the services of Trail Blazers attacker Obadiah Bundotich to boost their squad ahead of the new season, even as they commence the rebuilding process.
