Gor paired with Malawi champions in CAF draw

Gor Mahia FC have been paired with Malawian champions Nyasa Big Bullets in the preliminary round of the 2018/19 CAF Champions League.

Continental governing body CAF published the results of draw on Friday, five days after they were conducted in Rabat, Morocco with Gor set to host the first leg in Nairobi on November 27.

Gor will travel to Blantyre for the away leg a week later where the aggregate winner will face either Lobi Stars of Nigeria or USM De Loum of Cameroon in the First Round of the premier continental clubs competition.

The 2018 FKF Shield winners Kariobangi Sharks, who are debuting on the continental scene, were drawn with Arta Solar of Djibouti in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Sharks will also host the first leg in the capital on December 28 before making the 876-mile trip to Carta in Southeast Djibouti for the return leg fixture.

An aggregate victory for either side will see them face Cameroonian giants Asante Kotoko in the play-offs.

Bullets are regarded as the number one football club in Malawi in terms of supporters, league title winning and financial backing.

They were formerly known as Bata Bullets then Total Big Bullets and in 2003, the then Malawi’s President Bakili Muluzi adopted the team and renamed it Bakili Bullets.

Bullets first reached the Confederation Cup,(CAF) Champions’ League Group Stages in 2004 which was one of their best season since Muluzi take over.
