Gor Mahia's Irish coach, Jonathan McKinsitry, has reached out to the club seeking clarification regarding his future as his current contract is set to expire in August of this year.

McKinsitry's inquiry comes at a pivotal time for Gor Mahia, as they are on course for another league title and eyeing further success in continental competitions.

Club chairman Ambrose Rachier, disclosing McKinsitry's communication, has scheduled a meeting with the management to address the coach's concerns.

"Our head coach has formally requested clarity on his future with the club, given his contract's impending expiration in August. We will convene an executive session soon to deliberate on this matter," stated Rachier.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding McKinsitry's tenure, Rachier commended his impact since joining Gor Mahia in July 2022. Under his leadership, the team secured the league title last season and is currently in contention for their 21st league triumph this season.

Reflecting on McKinsitry's performance, Rachier highlighted the team's impressive record, with only two losses out of 27 matches this season against Police FC and Bandari FC.

"As we prepare to chart a course forward, it's evident that we are pleased with his contributions thus far," Rachier affirmed.

Meanwhile, Rachier revealed plans to reinforce the squad, particularly in goalkeeping, central defence, and striking positions, should Gor Mahia qualify for the CAF Champions League.

This decision follows an observed gap during the recent Mashemeji derby when goalkeeper Kevin Opiyo received a red card, leading to Caleb Otieno's debut in goal.

Rachier also expressed delight at the substantial turnout of fans during the Mashemeji Derby at Nyayo Stadium, emphasizing the potential financial benefits of such strong attendance.

"The fan turnout was exceptional. Increased attendance translates to potential solutions to many financial challenges. I extend my gratitude to all the supporters who made the event a success," Rachier remarked.

Looking ahead, Gor Mahia is set to face 11th-placed Murangá Seals on May 4, needing just four wins and a draw from their remaining seven matches to clinch the championship.
