Gor Mahia take on Murang’a Seal, Police eye FKF Cup slot

Gor Mahia midfielder Enock Morrison admits that the 21-time Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions are in a difficult place ahead of their Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup semi-final clash against Murang’a Seal at Dandora Stadium on Sunday.
This match comes exactly a week after Gor’s league title hopes took a massive hit when they were held to a barren draw in a match at St. Sebastian Park in Murang’a.
In an interview, the Ghanaian said that they know what is expected of the team as the season is coming to an end.
“We the players know what is ahead of us, we are in a difficult moment, we are giving our best to make it to the finals and possible win the competition.”
The midfielder said the draw was not the result they wanted and they are back to the drawing board to correct their mistakes.
“As a team we always need to go back to the training ground, correct our mistakes, where we couldn’t do better in our last game. So that is what we are doing.”
Morrison adds that everybody in the team is putting on the extra effort to make it to the finals which he believes will help to bring back motivation to the fans and the camp.”
“Everyone is going the extra mile to ensure that they get a win on Sunday, We need to bring back motivation to the fans and to us players as well,” he concluded.
Gor who are 11 times champions of the cup have had it difficult to win the trophy recently with their last triumph coming against AFC Leopards in 4 – 1 penalty shout out in 2021.
Last season, Gor were eliminated in round 32 by b FKF Coast Regional league side Denmak FC.
In another FKF Cup match Kenya Police will be squaring off with Mara Sugar who eliminated Compel.
Police who sit top of the league table are looking forward to eliminating Mara Sugar who are 13th with two games to play.
The winner of Kenya Police versus Mara match will battle it out in the semi finals against Nairobi United who recently earned promotion to the top flight after a 2-1 win over 3K FC on Friday.
Kenya Police are the defending champions, they defeated KCB in a 8-7 post match penalty with estranged goal keeper Patrick Matasi scoring.
