GOA crushed as roll ball league resumes after two-month break
The national
roll ball league resumed this weekend after a two-month break with former
champions Glory Outreach Assembly (GOA) suffering a 10-1 humbling at the hands
of Phoenix in the men’s division.
The result
at the Gretsa University in Thika, Kiambu County marked the fourth league defeat
for GOA with Phoenix taking a sixth win in emphatic fashion.
James Mwangi
was in fine form when he scored five times while Solomon Kinunthia scored twice
and Hemilton Gicheru got a hat trick. Albert Omwaro scored the consolation goal
for GOA.
"We
started well even though my team fell on the way and lost the match 10-1. This
is due to us taking a long break but we will be fine after the next two or
three games." said Musa Kaguli GOA team manager.
In another
men’s league result Wolves won against hosts Gretsa 7-3 as Tigers beat St Pauls
University 3-2.
In the
ladies league matches Gretsa won 1-0 against Wolves in a weekend that witnessed
six matches in the 12 round of the league that is expected to end in July 2023.
"Our
federation always works hard to help develop this game because now we have
almost ten years since this game was started here in Kenya. This has really
helped us grow the game,” the national roll ball team head coach Jared Tobias said.
