Fresh hope as Ambani's AFC Leopards tenure begins

AFC Leopards have ushered in a new era of leadership with the election of Boniface Ngaira Ambani as Chairperson on Sunday, an era the ex-Kenyan international has vowed to be of radical transformation.
Ambani secured 1,101 votes, comfortably defeating Enos Mutoka who garnered 682, thus taking the mantle from outgoing Chairman Dan Shiakanda.
In his victory speech, Ambani thanked his supporters and outlined his immediate priorities.
“The works start immediately first thing I will do is look into player contracts ,who is staying, who might leave , as we prepare for the new season,” he said.
Ambani ran on an 11-point agenda dubbed “The Starting XI, which emphasizes accountability, financial reform, improved infrastructure, and stronger fan engagement.
“I had a wonderful team and we will for sure bring back the pride of Ingwe. We are here to bring back the pride of Ingwe. " he added.
Shikanda's two-term tenure saw both progress and challenges, and expectations are now high for the new leadership to turn the tide.
In the other key positions, Isaac Mulindi Mulanda was elected Secretary General with 656 votes, while Newton Lime clinched the Treasurer seat with 676 votes.
Club patron and Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi urged fans to back the new leadership.
“This is a fresh start for AFC Leopards. Let’s give the new leadership the support they need,” he said.
Makadara MP George Aladwa echoed the sentiment, calling for unity and the inclusion of former players and legends in the club’s revival.
With a new team at the helm, fans are cautiously optimistic that the historic club one of Kenya’s oldest and most decorated can finally claw its way back to the top.
