Fortune Sacco mourns Coach Sylvester Odero killed in car crash

 The football community is mourning the tragic and untimely death of Fortune Sacco FC head coach Sylvester Odero, who passed away following a fatal road accident. The incident confirmed by the club’s management has sent shockwaves across the National Super League (NSL), where Odero had quickly made his mark as one of the most promising and respected tacticians in the game.

Coach Odero signed with Fortune Sacco on April 14, 2025, and in just a few months, transformed the club into a serious contender. In the recently concluded NSL season, he guided Fortune to a commendable fifth-place finish with 58 points, an impressive feat that underscored his tactical ability.

His tragic passing comes just as he was preparing the squad for the new season, one he believed would take Fortune even higher.

A holder of the CAF B license, Odero’s coaching journey was rich with experience and commitment to grassroots football development. He led Kirinyaga Stars to the Division Two play-offs against Kabati Youth, showcasing his knack for guiding young teams to success.

Most recently, he worked under the Kenya Academy of Sports (KAS) with the National Under-17 girls’ team and also previously served as a match analyst for Muranga SEAL.

Those who worked closely with Odero describe him as a man of principle, unshaken by outside pressure and unafraid to make tough calls.
