Former Mathare United coach Ali hints at return to active coaching
Former
Ulinzi Stars and Mathare United coach Salim Ali says is ready and willing to
return to active coaching, should he land a chance.
He is
however keen to work with development conscious clubs, the reason he has
rejected a number of offers locally.
The
experienced coach is open to worthy offers not only in Kenya, but beyond.
"If
I get that chance there is absolutely no problem. That is me - when we talk
about coaching. I have had a few opportunities with teams but I declined
because we did not agree on the terms of contract they were offering,’’ said
Ali.
Ali is
proud of the fast rising coaching standards locally, especially having been involved
in training most of the coaches for top CAF badges.
"We
wait and see, I had one team from outside the country while the majority of
those who wanted to appoint me are local. It is a very interesting scenario
because I'm training all these coaches as CAF educator. Most important is that
the more the qualified coaches, the better the standards. Being part of this
journey is quite fulfilling," he added.
Ali was
sacked by Mathare United in 2021, before joining Posta Rangers, a side he
parted ways with in 2022.
