The 2025 FKF Cup draw was conducted on Monday evening, setting the stage for an
electrifying knockout tournament. The competition, which brings together 61
teams from different league tiers, also includes three non-league teams, giving
an opportunity to lower-ranked clubs to showcase their talent on a national
stage.
Defending champions
Kenya Police FC will begin their title defence against Superior Hotels FC of
Naivasha, a side that competes in the FKF Regional League. Meanwhile, inaugural
winners Kakamega Homeboyz have been handed an away fixture against TBM Health
in Kisumu.
The Round of 64
matches will commence this weekend, with the grand final set for June 14, 2025.
According to Football
Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed, the tournament will allow
Kenyan clubs to compete internationally.
During the draw,
Mohammed emphasized the importance of securing more sponsorships to ensure
Kenyan football sustainability for players and clubs.
He reaffirmed the
federation’s commitment to running a well-structured and accountable
administration, ensuring integrity remains the foundation of Kenyan football.
"This competition
has been a stage where dreams have been realized. FKF is undergoing transformation,
and we are working hard to strengthen our competition while professionalizing
our football.
“To the participating
teams and players, the FKF President urged them to seize the opportunity to
showcase their skills on a national platform”, he added.
"From day one, we
promised to run a federation that clubs, players, and fans can trust. Every
decision we make is guided by the principle that football must be managed
fairly and professionally.
“As we continue strengthening
our leagues and grassroots structures, we welcome more partners to join
us." He added.
"This sponsorship
is not just about branding but about being part of a movement that is restoring
Kenya’s football glory. It’s a gateway to motivating our football.
“The winners of this
tournament compete in the CAF Confederation Cup, allowing our teams to gain
international exposure. We will ensure a deserving representative competes in
continental football."
"To the
footballers, use this tournament to showcase your talent and proudly represent
Kenyan football. This competition is a stepping stone to greater opportunities,
and we are committed to ensuring fair refereeing standards to uphold the game's
credibility."
