Eldonets coach Ouma decries talent drain
Eldonets men’s basketball team head coach Maurice Ouma is decrying the constant talent drain bedeviling the team noting that it the biggest impediment to their long term plans.
According to Ouma, the players don’t last at the club hence undermining the rollout of sporting plans.
“Most of our players are in transit, we can have a
player today and next season he is not there and therefore building a team
around specific individuals has been a challenge. We are now forced to work on
team chemistry every season unlike other teams who have players sticking around
for long,” Ouma said.
At
the same time Ouma cites lack of the team’s own court as another stumbling
block as they have to share a training venue with students of Uasin Gishu High
School, where they normally undertake their training sessions.
“If we had our own court it could make a very big
difference since we will be training there anytime without restrictions or
timetable but all in all we are grateful and we are managing under the
circumstances,” Ouma added.
Despite the challenges, Ouma holds the view that the club is a big motivation to the community, with most youth looking forward to playing for the club.
“Being the only club from the region to play in the premier league it gives people an opportunity,” Ouma added.
Eldonets are in seventh on the log with 27 points
having played 18 matches, winning nine and losing an equal number.
