Reigning Western Region Chapa Dimba champions Ebwali Boys FC have decried inadequate resources at their training camp as they prepare for national championships.

Coach Francis Muhambe says it has become difficult to cater for the players' food in the camp yet they have a heavy task of flying the Western region flag in the national championships later this month.

“After a poor show in the secondary schools competitions we made a resolve to work hard in the Chapa Dimba games. We can see some of our opponents receiving support from local leaders and are accessing proper training facilities like gyms unlike us,” the Ebwali secondary school football team coach said.

“I believe despite the challenges we are going to do well for Ebwali is becoming a football talent hub,” he added, hoping that the return of Derick Oketch to the camp after his Spain outing with the national team would boost the morale of his players ahead of Chapa Dimba finals.

Swaleh Abu, Ebwali skipper who spoke after a friendly match that ended in a 2-2 at Ebwali Playground against Vihiga County Under-23 team which is also preparing for the Kenya Youths Inter-County Sports Association, said his team is focusing on a strategy that would help them lift Chapa Dimaba title this year.

“Our balls are old, hampering our training, but we are doing the best we can to represent Western well, hoping to lift the title. We are confident of bringing that trophy home though currently we don’t have enough food in the camp,” he said.

Ebwali beat Bungoma Compel FC 1-0 at Bukhungu Stadium to earn a slot in the national Chapa Dimba final.
