Coast Stima worried by injuries as MCF aim at Fortune Sacco
Coast Stima Head Coach Hussein Madaga says injuries to his key players are his biggest concern as they prepare to host highflying Football Club Talanta on Saturday.
Madaga says the setback could have come at a worse time given the form of their opponents who sit second on the log, three points adrift of league leaders Kenya Police.
“Previously we have played very well but I feel injuries will derail our season because many of my important players are not available to face Talanta,” he told Citizen Digital.
He is however optimistic the reserve players that will be fielded will fight to gain relevance in the team or even cement starting berths.
“Such moments can be opportunities for other players who have not played in the starting eleven consistently. I expect them to step up for the challenge and get us the results we want.” he asserts.
Stima occupies the seventh position on the NSL log after garnering 15 points from a possible 27.
Madaha has urged stakeholders and well-wishers to come to bail them out financially as they are strained at the moment.
“We welcome anyone who can help us in any way because we are currently struggling. We need to honor our away matches, pay for referee fees and also pay for transport.
Elsewhere Mully Children Family (MCF) team manager Joseph Kimeu hopes their weekend fixture against Fortune Sacco will allow them to weigh themselves against one of the elite sides in the league.
Following a series of draws his found their shooting form to defeat struggling Nakumatt 2-1 last weekend to register their third scalp of the season.
Kimeu says they are ready to take on Fortune Sacco and will go for victory no matter the circumstances.
“We understand that our opponents are doing well in the league but we are also ready.
This is a good challenge for the boys for I know they are ready to move up the log. That will only come if we manage to get a good result against Fortune Sacco.
All midweek fixtures were pushed to this weekend to pave way for the referees’ Physical Endurance Training (PET) commissioned by the Football Kenya Federation at the Kericho Green Stadium.
