Coach Aussems to return once sports ban is lifted – Leopards

AFC Leopards Secretary General Oliver Sikuku has moved to clear the air with assurance that head coach Patrick Aussems will return to steady the club once the government ban on sports is lifted.

The Belgian left the country on April 1 posting on his official Twitter account that he’ll be away, following the move by the government to halt all sporting activities as a measure to tame the spread of Covid-19.

Sikuku’s sentiments appear to rubbish rumuors swirling around that Aussems may not return to continue with his duties.

“The day the government will lift the sports ban we shall without delay work on his return, for now there is no training and so there is nothing he has been doing.

That being the case we decided to allow him leave the country to go and rest as well as visit his family as long as sports is suspended,” Sikuku explained.

According to Sikuku, Ingwe are in touch with Aussems on a daily basis as the Belgian continues issuing the playing unit with training manual to use at home.

“We communicate daily and he does give his program for in-house training daily, to be applied by the playing unit,”Sikuku said, adding: “For our players, they do share with the technical bench on a daily basis what they have done.”

On his arrival in Belgium, Aussems tweeted assuring Leopards fans that he is eager to return and continue sharpening his boys with an aim of helping them lift the title this season.

“Returned yesterday at noon from Kenya, vaccinated at 4pm! Thanks to my doctor and to my city of Bellegarde, Gard in France! After the 2d injection in few days, I can’t wait to be back in Nairobi and finish the job in order to bring a trophy to AFC Leopards!”

Leopards are in position three with 28 points, seven behind leaders Tusker who have played two more matches.
