Clinical KPA send Nazarene University back to basketball class
Clinical Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) sunk a century points to hand African Nazarene University (ANU) a crushing 100-40 defeat in a Kenya ladies Basketball Federation tie on Sunday at Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium.
This completed a weekend double for the Dockers after thumping UoN Dynamites 76-37 in a Saturday tie at the same venue.
KPA raced up 14-0 in the first five minutes of the opening period, Vilma Achieng sinking 10 points before gallant ANU bounced back to settle the first period at 18 points each powered by three 3-pointers from steadfast Caroline Njeri.
Mike Opel charges found its boom demolishing the varsity side 24-9 and 32-4 in the second and the third stanzas consecutively, Felmas Koranga, Hilda Indasi and Natalie Akinyi combining for 27 points.
The former champions wrapped the century score after thumping ANU 26-9 in the last period, Christine Akinyi and Debra Atieno giving their best sinking 8 points apiece.
Achieng extended her game-high score clinching 18 points to sum up to a dominant 30 points for the remarkable weekend double, Velmas Koranga and Hildah Indasi sinking 13 and 10 points in that order.
In another ladies match, Lucy Musyoki sunk game-high 16 points to guide Zetech University to a 45-32 rout of Strathmore University in a tough match played at Nyayo Gymnasium.
Zetech seized the opening quarter with a slim 15-11 triumph, before Strathmore enjoyed another slender 9-7 win in the second qurter, Neema Achieng and Susan Manya conjoining for 8 points for Strathmore.
Maurice Obuo charges found its spark in the last two quarters thumping Strathmore 8-6 and 15-16 in the third and the fourth quarter respectively.
