Gor Mahia captain Philemon Otieno says they have now turned their full focus on FKF Premier League after their embarrassing exit from the CAF Champions League.

Gor were eliminated from Africa's biggest inter-club competition on a 6-0 aggregate drubbing by champions and Egyptian giants Al Ahly following 2-0 and 3-0 defeats respectively in the two legged second preliminary round.

Despite the humbling, Otieno says they picked many positives that will be key as they seek to get off to a flyer in their bid to lift an unprecedented 22nd FKF Premier League title.

“We have learned our lesson from the competition where we have played a high level team and it is about time we use the experience we got and apply it to the league,” said Otieno.

They will open their delayed season on Saturday against newly promoted Mathare United who are yet to pick maximum points on their return to the top flight.

“Our history with Mathare is not bad but despite that they remain a good team and that is why they are back in the league. We have to be perfect in all departments for us to get maximum points and start the season on a high note.”

Mathare United have four points after two draws and a defeat.

“We want to continue dominating the local league that is why we have to make sure we get as many points as possible in each and every game,” he added.
