Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League (FKF-WPL) side Bungoma Queens
have set their sight on reaching the FKF Women’s Cup final after edging Trinity Starlets in the quarter-finals at the weekend.
Their victory earned Bungoma Queens highly anticipated semi-final clash against powerhouse Vihiga
Queens, set to take place on
Thursday.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Bungoma Queens head coach Godfrey Mabonga
acknowledged the challenge that lies ahead but expressed confidence in his
team’s ability to rise to the occasion.
“Facing Vihiga Queens
will not be easy. They are an experienced side with a strong record in local
competitions, but we have prepared well, and the girls are hungry for success,” Mabonga said.
Bringing together two successful premier league clubs with the final slot up
for grabs, the clash is expected to be a thrilling encounter as both teams aim
to win a medal after missing out on the league title.
Bungoma Queens, who have steadily built momentum throughout the tournament,
will be looking to capitalize on their recent form and tactical discipline to
overcome the three-time Women Premier League champions.
Queens will be banking on the creativity of
their lethal forward Catherine Khaemba for goals.
The winner of Thursday’s showdown will advance to the FKF Women’s Cup final,
where they will face the victor of the other semi-final
clash
between Kenya Police Bullets and Kibera Soccer
Women.
