Bungoma Queens coach Mabonag over the moon after humiliating Kisumu
Bungoma Queens head coach, Godfrey Mabonga, expressed his satisfaction after his team's dominant 5-1 win over Kisumu All Starlets in their FKF Women’s Premier League clash on Saturday.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mabonga credited the
victory to learning from past mistakes and making tactical adjustments following
their earlier defeat.
"We
reviewed our performance in the previous match and made necessary corrections.
The players executed our game plan perfectly in the second half, which resulted
in the five goals," Mabonga said.
The game was
tightly contested in the first half but Kisumu All Starlets took the lead after
both teams struggled to break the deadlock. However, Bungoma Queens turned the
match on its head after the break. Caroline Khaemba and Catherine Khaemba were
on fire, each scoring two goals, while Zari Timona added one more to seal the
convincing win.
All five goals
came in the second half, highlighting the team's improved cohesion and
attacking prowess. Club captain Sara Masiebi, who has been pivotal in the
squad’s development, promised that the team would continue building on this
momentum. "We are determined to keep winning, and I will do everything
possible to ensure we stay on the right path," she said.
The win moved Bungoma Queens up to eighth place in the league standings, with three points
from two matches, while Kisumu All Starlets dropped to 10th with only one point
after two games.
Mabonga and his
team will now look to carry their winning form into the next match as they aim
for a stronger position in the league after losing their opening fixture of the
ongoing campaign.
