Bundesliga 2022/23 season kicks off with Bayern out to defend the title

The new 2022-23 Bundesliga season will kick off from Friday August 5.

Defending champions FC Bayern Munich visit UEFA Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt from 9:30pm, Borussia Dormund will meet Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday from 7:30pm while VFB Stuttgart will face RB Leipzig on Sunday 7th August from 4:30pm on World Football channel.

There are plenty of new faces on the pitch and in the dugout this Bundesliga season with exciting players making moves to and within Germany’s top flight. Bayern have lured Sadio Mane away from Liverpool, Matthijs de Ligt, Ryan Gravenberch, Noussair Mazraoui and Mathys Tel.

Last season’s runners-up, Borussia Dortmund haven't been left behind, bringing in centre-backs Niklas Süle and Nico Schlotterbeck from Bayern and Freiburg respectively, Salih Özcan from Cologne, and Karim Adeyemi – Europe’s top scorer under the age of 21 – back to his homeland from Red Bull Salzburg.

And Kenyan football fans will be in a position to catch all the live fixtures exclusively on pay television platform StarTimes Media as the top tier German football league marks the 60th season since its foundation in 1963.

Speaking ahead of the much anticipated kickoff, StarTimes Regional Marketing Directro Mr. Aldrine Nsubuga said, “We are looking forward to the new season where Bundesliga fixtures will be available live and exclusively on StarTimes platform, fans can therefore anticipate dramatic scenes given Bundesliga continues to boast the highest goals-per-game rate among Europe’s top five leagues in four of the last five seasons.”

Bundesliga has captured the mantra of “Football As It’s Meant To Be” an important part of which is the fan culture where every team has its own identity which is embodied by community spirit. The league is football’s highest attended in the world, where it enjoys one of the highest stadium utilizations in all top leagues – higher than 90% on average (pre-covid).

FC Bayern München remains the league’s most successful club on the pitch while the south stand of Borussia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park is the league's crown jewel with almost 25,000 fans from different walks of life.

Dortmund’s renowned Yellow Wall remains the largest grand stand in Europe.
