Baraza keen to maintain Bandari pre-international break momentum
Bandari FC head coach Francis Baraza is keen to
pick from where they left before the international break when the Dockers
travel to play Ulinzi Stars on Saturday as the FKF-Premier League action
returns.
Bandari ended Gor Mahia’s unbeaten run with a 1-0
victory at Mbaraki Sports Complex on March 9, and Baraza says the break has not
affected his charges’ momentum as they chase their fourth consecutive win on
the bounce.
“It was a big victory for us because we beat a
great team with very good players and that really lifted the morale of the
players ahead of the upcoming fixtures. We are determined to continue with the
great form this weekend and the rest of the season,” he said.
Baraza said he used friendly matches during the
break to keep his players on their toes and he expects them to step up again when
they clash with the Soldiers.
“The break always affects many teams’ momentum and
that is not different with us but at least we played three friendly matches
against teams in the coastal region in order not to lose the rhythm. I hope we
will see the impact when the league resumes.”
Baraza is however aware of the challenge posed by the
Soldiers especially when they are at their base Ulinzi Sports Complex.
“The can be a very stubborn team at any given time
and have that great fighting spirit that they never give up but we have a game
plan to manage them.”
The Dockers are third on the log with 43 points, seven
adrift of the leaders Gor Mahia.
