Bankers sip Tusker, Slum Boys down Talanta
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League leaders KCB continued with their good start into the season after beating Tusker 3-2 in a tight league match in Murang’a.
The Bankers were doing their seventh match of the season, having won five and drawing two – a perfect start they would wish for.
KCB started the match on high without holding back with Francis Kahiro opening the score sheet on the fifth minute into the game after making good use of James Kinyanjui's cross.
Kahiro doubled the lead for the Bankers on the 13th minute with a neat header from Kevin Okumu’s cross.
Tusker had to push hard and their efforts paid off on the 39th minute when Ryan Ogam pulled one back to make it 2-1 at the breather.
Second half was no different as the Bankers were still yearning for more goals and James Kinyanjui who got involved in the first goal had his name on the score sheet after wasting no chance from Vincent Ondabu’s low cross in the 60th minute… 3-1, the score board read on the hour mark – joy for the Bankes, tough for the Brewers.
The match, which was somehow well balanced in the second half was not over yet as Tusker’s Ogam scored from the spot after he was brought down in the box in the first minute of added time.
3-2, the match ended in favour of the Bankers to cement their place at the summit with 17 points from seven matches.
For the Brewers, the defeat left them placed at fifth on the log with nine points after seven matches.
In other league matches, Mathare United beat Talanta 2-0 as Kariobangi Sharks drew 1-1 against Shabana FC.
