Bandari plot to raid KCB in top-of-the-table clash
Bandari are just three points adrift of KCB and will equal the tally if they pick three points and also claim the top spot if they win with more than five unanswered goals.
“We will take KCB like the other teams. They are not special, only that they’re in good form this season. We will go full force against them as we chase maximum points plus a big win so that we can have a high number of goal aggregate.”
Bandari, who have won two successive matches on the bounce, are second on 19 points, three below KCB who have played one more match.
Dockers’ CEO Tony Kibwana said they were not worried about facing their former players who moved to KCB.
“We know they have almost five players who were with us before but that won't change the fact that we need three points from the encounter.”
The quintet comprises Fraj Ominde, goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo, their top scorer Francis Kahiro, midfielder Danson Namasaka and their playmaker James Kinyanjui.
“We know it won't be an easy match but we promise our fans an interesting and entertaining match. Our fans must show up in large numbers and push the players to their limit. They are the 12th player,” he added.
Ken Odhiambo’s opposite number Patrick Odhiambo is however keen to tuck the league’s lead away as they seek to end the recent blip that has seen the Bankers fail to win in their last two matches.
“It’s a must win game and I know it will be a tough one. We will try to get all the three points as we aim to end the recent slump.”
Elsewhere, reigning champions Gor Mahia have their eyes firmly set on a fourth win on the bounce when they play Bidco United at Kenyatta Stadium on Sunday.
The champions’ midweek 3-2 win against Talanta lifted them up to fourth in the league standings with 17 points, five behind KCB although K’Ogalo have played two fewer matches.
Former champions Tusker will move second in the league standings with a win against Mathare United at Police Sacco Stadium on Saturday, hours before second placed Bandari host KCB.
Head coach Charles Okere has warned his players against sleeping on their laurels as they eye their fourth successive league win on the bounce.
Okere admits they have right their ship but wants the players to have maximum focus if they are to achieve their season target.
“Everyone is positive ahead of the match and the last three consecutive wins have boosted our morale. We started slowly this season but I’m happy we’ve managed to steady the ship and now we are eyeing to do well at the end of it.”
