Bandari find new venue for FKF-PL home matches

According to head coach Francis Baraza, Mombasa Sports Club will host the categorised low risk matches while Ukunda Showground in Kwale will play host to high risk fixtures.

The team does not play again at home until April 13, when they welcome Bidco United. On Saturday they visit Ulinzi Stars at Ulinzi Sports Complex seeking to reduce the gap between them and leaders Gor Mahia.

Baraza added that the two grounds are currently undergoing facelifts as per FKF’s recommendations before hosting FKF-PL matches.

“We have been given a green light to host our remaining home matches at the two venues following an inspection by FKF. The two venues will undergo some few fine tunings to fit the recommendations.

He also said change of venue will not affect their current momentum which has seen the team remain firmly in the title race, only seven points behind leaders Gor Mahia.

“We are used to all these venues and no need to have fears that we will perform poorly away from Mbaraki. Our home ground is very important but again determination and focus I believe are the key so we will continue to get points even when not in Mbaraki.”

Bandari’s home ground,  Mbaraki Sports Club which was closed last month for upgrading,  is expected to be ready for use again in September, just in time for the start of the 2024/25 FKF-PL season.

Mbaraki has been a nightmare for visiting teams as Bandari have turned their home into a fortress with Gor Mahia the recent victims where they lost their unbeaten streak.

Bandari claimed a 1-0 win on March 9 to dash the champions’ hopes to end the season unscathed.

It was the last home fixture for Bandari at home before the venue was closed for renovations.
