Attitude change the catalyst to our newfound momentum - Queens’ manager Muganga
Thika
Queens believe they are on the right trajectory after they picked an emphatic
win at the weekend thumping Gaspo Ladies 5-1 in a women’s premier league.
Their
win at the weekend, which ended Gaspo’s unbeaten run, was impressive, and their
team manager Glenson Muganga holds the view that the rout was a culmination of “a
well-choreographed tactical and attitude investment on the ladies that is
slowly yielding fruits”.
To
Muganga, the ladies have finally realized they are in the champions’ bracket
and winning all their games was possible if they played each game as a unit.
This,
he says, has been realized in their recent two matches where they beat reigning
champions and current league leaders Vihiga Queens at home two weeks ago and
their last week raid of Cambridge, that saw them halt Gaspo’s unbeaten run.
“We
are finally in that bracket where we can say that we are title contenders and
it is a good feeling considering how we began the season,” he said. “We have
slowly picked up the pieces and the team is giving results after an attitude
change which is working well for us.”
On
their performance last Sunday, Muganga says that scoring early goals was a
tactic which worked to their advantage as it scared off their opponents, giving
them the advantage to control the match for the entire 90 minutes.
“Our
experience playing with them in the previous games gave us an upper hand in
preparations,” he said. “We prepared better and vigorously to face them. We
were sure that if we scored early goals and controlled the game we would be
able to hold them and it surely worked for us,” he comncluded.
Queens
welcome frail-looking Kangemi Ladies to Thika this weekend in a game Muganga
insists will be treated just like any other big games they have played this
season.
