APS Bomet faced with home venue conundrum ahead of KPL bow

Newly-promoted NSL side APS Bomet will be forced to look for
an alternative home venue outside the county if the stalled 37,000 IAAF-seater
stadium is not completed in time before next season.
The construction works at the stadium kicked off in 2014
under the administration of the county’s first governor, Isaac Ruto, but later
stalled, leaving it devoid of basic structures like a perimeter wall.
The federation was hesitant last season to allow the APS FC
to use the facility on condition that the fans must be retrained from invading
the pitch during matches.
Former MOFA tactician Charles Odera, who previously coached
APS, said the current state of the stadium might not be approved by the
federation committee, which will be visiting within a month to assess the
suitability.
Despite being erected to terrace level, the facility is
currently deplorable as some of its walls are cracked and wild vegetation is sprouting
in between the un-compacted surfaces.
Bomet County branch FKF chair David Siele said his office has
yet to meet with the federation president, Hussein Mohamed, to help solicit
funds that can be used to address some of the challenges at hand.
“The APS are hosting their last NSL match on Saturday versus
SS Assad FC. We will use the platform after the match to organize a fundraiser.
“We are also appealing to the county government to help
support the process", he added.
APS patron Rose Chemutai has appealed to fans to help rally
behind the team with financial support.
