Ambani backs reinvigorated Leopards to end league title drought
Leopards last won the Kenyan Premier League title in 1998 and Ambani, who was the league’s top scorer that season, insists that time for the 12-time champions to roar and make their fans proud is ripe.
“Yes the team has stayed long without a league title and I believe it's time for us to compete and turn tables around to win the league and make fans proud”, said Ambani.
Ambani, who took over from the sacked Czech Republic-born tactician Tomas Trucha in November last year after a string of poor results, has instigated an immediate improvement in results, aesthetics and harmony in the team.
Under his unbeaten reign Ingwe have posted three wins and two draws to move five points of leaders KCB, who have played one more game and who they face in their next FKF Premier League game.
Leopards have won against Police, Tusker and Bandari and managed to salvage a point against Kakamega Homeboyz and Sofapaka in the last five matches Ambani has been in charge.
“The team has performed well according to the expectations of the fans, I have to congratulate the players and show them that you believe in them fully.
I appreciate what the players are doing and I am convinced that they can continue with the good run of form they have had (during the December fixtures where they won three and drew twice with zero defeats)”, added Ambani.
The former Harambee Stars and Leopards player has also shot down plans to reinforce the squad soon insisting that he has faith in the players he has and there are no intentions to make any new signings.
“I have confidence in my team and I don’t intend to make any additions in the name of new signings.”
