Aketch appointed new Bunyore Starlets coach
Kenya
Women Premier League side Bunyore Starlets have appointed Nick Aketch alias
Tichee as their new Head Coach, who succeeds Timothy Ondeko.
This
is a move aimed at fulfilling Caf Club Licensing requirements, on coaches
qualifications criteria.
The
former Kisumu All Stars tactician who holds a Caf B license, beat other three
contestants in getting the job, according club Chairman Moses Mabwa.
“It’s
true that we have signed Aketch who replaces Ondeko, who landed a Sports Officer
job in Vihiga County. He also secured another job at FKF-PL side Shabana FC as
a physio," he explained.
"Out of the four coaches we interviewed, Aketch had the advantage as he was the most qualified,
being a Caf B coaching license holder. As per the Caf regulations, we had to
offer him the job," added Mabwa.
"Having played football, he also boosts a vast coaching experience. Hel
helped Kisumu All Stars men team to earn promotion to the FKF PL. He also
coached women teams at the time he was in Netherlands for further studies and I
believe he will guide our players well,” Mabwa further elucidated.
Aketch
will be assisted by Veneranah Khakasi while Davis Abiola serves as goalkeeper
trainer.
Abiola
will bring wealth of experience, being a former player of Siga Poly where he
also worked as a trainer. Most recently, Abiola served as a trainer at Wadadia
during the just concluded season.
Khakasi
on her side has succeeded Absalom Mariga who has since joined B-All Stars, a
team based in Luanda (Vihiga) - which is set to join the Vihiga County League
next season.
Bunyore
who finished eighth with 17 points last season in the KWPL, have released six
players and signed 12, including Braxides Itambo and Becky Misango.
Itambo alias bishop and Misango joined the side after landing a scholarship opportunity at Sang’alo Technical training Institute.
Tacy Olembo, Agnes Olesi,
Eve Chemutai and Cynthia Okwado are some of the six player who left the team at
the end of last season.
“Very soon we are going to unveil our 12 new players we have signed ahead of the new season. Most of those signed are very young and because we have Under-15 team, we felt it’s good to sign young players who some of them will also feature for the junior team which will feed the senior side.
"We want to build a team which
will play for long and through the new coach I believe we will achieve the
goal,” added Mabwa.
