The Football Kenya Federation Women's Premier League side Vihiga Queens are beefing up their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season, as they aim to reclaim the league title.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, club's head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu said that there is a possibility of several players leaving the camp to join other clubs, adding that the technical team will have to make replacements for any departure.

Queens, a giant in the KWPL, could not keep pace with newly minted champions, Police Bullets, who shot all out of their way in a march to the league glory and Queens believe that a rebuild could hand them the ammunition to match the law enforcers next term.

"We will recruit new players because some of our players may not be with us next season. The right time to gauge the players that we have identified is when we are back in training," he said.

However, Nyamunyamu emphasized that there is no single player who has officially left the outfit, denying information circulating online pointing to the exodus of players.

"We have seen in the media players being unveiled elsewhere without our knowledge, that's not official. There is a process to follow before releasing a player. Some of them have friends in Nairobi, it could be a case of visitation because we are in the break,” he said of the alleged exit of Emily Morang'a and Ann Moraa to Police Bullets.

Queens won the 2023 FKF Women's Premier League title but finished second in just the concluded campaign behind champions Kenya Police Bullets.
