KCB, Pipeline shocked at Africa Club Champs
In the first semi-final clash, KCB saw their quest for a good medal hit a wall after a 3-1 thumping from defending champions Zamalek.
The bankers had a perfect start, spanking the hosts 25-22 in the first set.
Zamalek however reclaimed their mojo, stunning the 2022 champions 25-12, 25-11 and 25-21 in the subsequent sets to complete their remarkable comeback.
In another pulsating semi-final contest, last year's silver medalists Kenya Pipeline were put to sword by record winners Al Ahly in a 3-1 defeat.
The Oilers had a slow start, loosing the first set 25-15 before turning the game around in the second set to whitewash the hosts 25-19.
However the hosts came with a different gear in the third set, lifting Pipeline off their feet with a 25-18 win which preceeded a 25-12 win in the fourth set.
A what would be Kenyan affair final showdown dream vanished into thin air with the two sides now forced to clash in the third place play-offs, paving the way for an all Egyptian affair in the final.
