Woman sues man who stood her up on a date in 2020 for Ksh.1M
An American woman has sued a man who failed
to show up for their planned date in 2020, arguing that he intentionally caused
her emotional distress.
QaShontae Short, according to court documents
obtained by the TMZ, claimed Richard Jordan “did not show and left on her
mother’s birthday and her mom had just passed away.”
Short now wants Jordan to pay her USD 10,000
(Ksh.1,186,200) claiming he hurt her by pulling the no-show.
The two appeared virtually before Judge Herman
Marable Jr in Flint, Michigan, in a session that went off the rails as fast as
it had began, with the video clip now going viral.
“That’s not
something that’s really justiciable in district court. That has to be brought
in circuit court,” Judge Marable Jr can be heard saying in the video.
Jordan urges the judge to throw out the matter saying
he only went on one date with Short and called it quits.
Short then however claims that Jordan had committed
perjury by lying to her that he would show up for the date only to stand her
up,
However, Judge Marable then corrects her saying: ““No,
perjury is a false statement made under oath.”
The two – Short and the judge – then go on a winded back and forth before he mutes the Zoom call and transfers the matter to the circuit court.
